Jordan: Home Of Canada's Best Restaurant

Fresh aromas drifting out of an unassuming stark-black barn in Jordan hint at what Canada's Best Restaurants has declared the best restaurant in Canada. Welcome to Pearl Morissette in Jordan, Ontario.

Doubling as a vineyard, Pearl Morissette is helmed by European trained chefs who draw their inspiration from seasonal French cooking.

"Hospitality is a team sport, and by choosing to dine with us you are helping our whole team to flourish. For that we are grateful."

From Lardo-draped asparagus, grilled over charcoal and peach wood, to British Columbia scallops and fresh baked sourdough-cornmeal bread, head chefs Hadida and Robertson boast a menu sourced from local food whenever possible.

Rather than stick to a generic menu and the usual trappings of a North American restaurant, the experience is advertised as all-inclusive. Five course meals range at $88 per person, with no tips required - a break from the traditional experience in favor of a more European approach. "Our staff is delighted to provide service and hospitality without the need for you to tip," reads the website. "This is a departure from the old way of doing things, and we value your feedback. Hospitality is a team sport, and by choosing to dine with us you are helping our whole team to flourish. For that we are grateful."

The vineyard turned leading Canadian restaurant is just one of the many reasons why we're proud to be a builder in Jordan, and even happier to have such delicious food and vintages right on our doorstep
