A Hidden Gem: Wineries In Jordan

    Laura JonesApr 5, 2018 4:09:00 PM

Niagara is a world renowned region for wine. We know that, you know that, but do you know about Niagara's own hidden gem, Jordan, Ontario? Just a few minutes off the Q.E.W, sits this amazing hamlet with wineries, farm-to-table restaurants, and an Inn that is perfectly situated in the Twenty Valley.

We want you to experience all that Jordan has to offer. Here is a rundown of our favourite Jordan wineries:

    Cave Spring

Celebrating 30 years, Cave Spring is known for their Riesling. As one of the foremost producers of Riesling in North America, they have garnered a strong reputation for cool-climate Chardonnays and red wines such as Pinot Nior, and Gamay. They invite you to come and visit their location, which is an historic winery dating back to 1871, one of the oldest functioning wine cellars in Ontario. You can also join them at the Inn on the Twenty for dinner and accommodations.

    Calamus Estate Winery

Located near Balls Falls, Calamus Estate Winery is an experience all on it's own. Their location features an observatory and a deep space telescope capable of viewing interstellar bodies. If you have yet to try their Riesling, I would keep an eye out for it at the LCBO or you can visit them on location to purchase a bottle and enjoy a tasting on their rooftop patio.

    Creekside

Creekside is a winery for all the people who may feel like wineries are not for them. They have a dog friendly tasting room where you are welcome to bring your leashed best friend, they are on major cycling routes and have bike racks if you want to stop in on your route, their Creek Greeks are the friendliest experts in all things Creekside wine and are at the tasting bar to help. They offer winery tours every Saturday and Sunday from may to October at 2:00pm. All of this to say, that their innovative take on all things wine have paid off being awarded many accolades including Vineyard Innovator of the Year. The core of their wine portfolio are their Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah.

    Flat Rock Cellars

Flat Rock Cellars focuses on two things, making great wine and making the wine experience, personal. They create high quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling. Environmental sustainability is important to them and their buildings and vineyards are developed as such. Have you ever been in a "5 level gravity flow winemaking facility"? No? Then you have to head over to Flat Rock Cellars and have them show you around. Bring your friends. They offer different types of tours based on your interests.

If you have a Saturday to spend doing something amazing, spend it in Jordan visiting local wineries. It is fun, eye-opening, and needless to say, delicious!
